The Peugeot 405 is produced by the Iranian company Iran Khodro. The car has a local name Peugeot 405 Pars, but it differs little from the original "four hundred fifth" (except for different bumpers). It has the same archaic design, as well as a simple interior in the spirit of the 80s without any screens or modern technologies in general.

Buyers have access to two naturally aspirated petrol engines: a 1.8-liter SOHC engine with 101 hp and a 1.6-liter 16-valve unit with 109 hp. Both engines work in conjunction with a 5-speed manual transmission, but the older one can be paired with a 4-speed automatic for an additional cost.

The cost of the car in Iran is from 7,800 euros, which is equivalent to almost $9,200. Western media note that roads in Iran are quite poor, but the Peugeot 405 will surely handle them, as overall it is a very reliable car. The only drawback is that it cannot be brought/imported to Europe due to non-compliance with modern safety requirements and environmental standards.

By the way, in Iran the Peugeot 405 has been assembled (of course, under license) since 1992.
