New car registration costs

The calculation is indicative: the rates in settings have not been checked against current tariffs. Final amounts are set by the service centre or customs.

How car registration is calculated

A new car from the dealership goes to the service centre, where it receives licence plates and a registration certificate. Some payments are fixed — the document form, plate production, centre services and the bank fee. Only one part varies: the Pension Fund levy.

The Pension Fund rate is 3%, 4% or 5% depending on how many subsistence minimums the pre-VAT car price amounts to. That is why the calculator divides the entered sum by 1.2 before applying the percentage.

The separate "first registration fee" based on engine size no longer exists — it was abolished and replaced by a transport tax for expensive cars. Service centre tariffs change periodically, so the total is a guide, not an invoice.
