Car customs clearance calculator

The calculation is indicative: the rates in settings have not been checked against current tariffs. Final amounts are set by the service centre or customs.

What customs clearance consists of

There are three payments: import duty on the customs value, excise tax and VAT. VAT is calculated last — on the car value together with duty and excise — so it is always the largest.

Excise for petrol and diesel cars depends on engine size and age: the base rate in euro is multiplied by the engine litres and by the number of full years. For electric cars the rate is charged per kWh of battery, for hybrids it is fixed.

For cars from EU countries with an EUR.1 certificate of origin no import duty is paid — the most noticeable saving in the calculation.
