Externally, it can be distinguished by its carbon fiber roof, special aerodynamic mirrors, original bumpers with enlarged air intakes, a pair of twin exhaust pipes, 20-inch alloy wheels of original design, reinforced brakes, and badges.

The top Competition version stands out with black styling of the radiator grille, bumpers, mirrors, spoiler, and exhaust tips. Inside, the M cars are easily recognizable thanks to the signature steering wheel, special gear selector, sport front seats, instrument cluster graphics, and M logos.

The powertrain, M xDrive all-wheel drive with Active M rear differential, and adaptive suspension are familiar from the M5 sedan, with differences in characteristics achieved through fine chassis tuning. Under the hood of the M8 Gran Coupe is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 600 horsepower (750 Nm of torque) or 625 horsepower with unchanged torque in the Competition version. The top speed of the M8 Gran Coupe is limited to 250 kilometers per hour and can be increased to 305 kilometers per hour when ordering the optional M Driver's Package.

Production of the BMW M8 Gran Coupe will begin in November. The first to hit the assembly line will be sedans of the limited First Edition series, which feature a unique interior with bronze inserts, special wheel design, and a run of 400 units.
