The essence of the problem is that when performing this exercise, the BMW M4 Competition's rear axle noticeably lost traction, and the electronic stability control system was not always able to correct the trajectory. The best result that the 510-horsepower coupe managed to achieve was 76 km/h — and even in that attempt, the driver had to actively straighten the car, fighting the oversteer. Moreover, an experienced driver was at the wheel.

Recall that the moose test involves a sharp avoidance of an unexpected obstacle on the road. A rating of "excellent" is given for passing at a speed of 77 km/h or higher. The absolute record at the moment is the Tesla Model 3's result — 83 km/h.
Interestingly, in parallel with the BMW M4, the "hot" Ford Puma ST was also tested, and its result turned out to be quite impressive, especially for a crossover — 81 km/h.
