If you believe the stories circulating on the internet, BMW drivers are known for their arrogant and even rude behavior on the road. There is even a joke that the turn signals on cars of this brand constantly break down — so rarely do people behind the wheel of a BMW use them.
In a new study conducted in the UK (yes, by those very British scientists), a serious claim is made — BMW drivers show "more psychopathic tendencies than other drivers." In second place are Audi drivers.

During the study, British scientists surveyed 2000 British drivers. Each participant named the brand, type of license plate, and color of the car they currently drive, and then took a psychopathy test. The results were scored on a scale from 0 to 36.
Those who scored from 0 to 18 points are quite normal people, but the closer to 18, the higher the risk of psychopathic tendencies. Those who scored from 19 to 26 points may have psychopathic tendencies, and more than 27 points — with a high degree of probability are psychopaths.
Fortunately for humanity, the average score among the 2000 participants was 6.6, and no one exceeded 18 points. Nevertheless, the researchers compiled a rating of drivers by the degree of manifestation of psychopathic tendencies.
First place went to BMW drivers — an average score of 12.1. Next are Audi drivers — 11.7 points.
"The results show that these drivers may be more likely to exhibit psychopathic traits, such as an inflated sense of self-worth and a lack of remorse or guilt," the researchers explain.
Next are drivers who are unlikely to exhibit such behavioral traits, but let's list them all:
- BMW — 12.1
- Audi — 11.7
- Fiat — 7.0
- Mazda — 6.4
- Honda — 6.3
- Ford — 6.1
- Mercedes-Benz — 5.9
- Citroen — 5.8
- Volkswagen — 5.4
- Hyundai — 5.3
- Renault — 5.3
- Others — 5.3
- Volvo — 5.2
- Nissan — 5.0
- Peugeot — 4.8
- Toyota — 4.7
- Vauxhall (Opel) — 4.7
- Seat — 4.3
- Kia — 4.2
- Skoda — 3.2
By the way, owners of electric vehicles are most at risk of turning out to be psychopaths — 16 points. Drivers of hybrid cars scored an average of 9.8 points in the test, gasoline — exactly 7 points, diesel — 5.2 points.

Owners of golden cars scored an average of 12.7 points, brown — 12.2 points, green — 8.5, black — 7.6, blue — exactly 7, white — exactly 6, silver — 5.5 points, and red — only 4.9 points.
Beautiful license plates also indicate a risk of psychopathy — an average score of 13.8 (regular plates — 5.3).
Therefore, be especially wary on the roads of golden BMW electric cars with beautiful license plates (joke).
