The circumstances of this incident have become known. It all started when, during a standard document check on the road, the car attracted the attention of law enforcement officers. According to the database, the vehicle was listed as a regular diesel Touring station wagon of the third series, but in front of the police was actually a "hot" BMW M3 Touring with a petrol engine. Moreover, such a version of the "three" in the F80 body (which is exactly what this station wagon was)… was never produced. After that, the car was confiscated and handed over to specialists for a thorough examination.

During the inspection, it turned out that the station wagon was assembled from parts of four different BMWs, including two original M3s. Two of these cars were stolen: one was stolen from a dealership in 2019, the other back in 2018. Non-factory welds were found on the "homemade" car, and the VIN numbers were filed off.

Law enforcement emphasized that the car looked flawless on the outside, but due to interference with the load-bearing body structure, its operation is prohibited, and therefore it cannot be put up for auction or sold. Therefore, it was decided to send the car for scrapping.
