The X7 turned out to be noticeably longer than the new X5: 5151 mm versus 4922 mm. The difference in wheelbase is also significant – it is 130 mm longer on the X7. Thanks to this significant increase, the new BMW model received a full third row of seats, and all X7 modifications, including the base one, will be seven-seaters. As an option, BMW will offer a six-seat interior – in this case, the second-row seats will be separated by wide armrests.

At the start of sales, the new model will be offered in three versions. The base variant will be the xDrive 30d with a three-liter 249-horsepower diesel engine. In addition, the X7 can be ordered in the gasoline version xDrive 40i – with a three-liter twin-turbo producing 340 hp. The most powerful and expensive version is the xDrive M50d (three-liter turbodiesel with 400 hp). All engines work with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system.
In the base version, the X7 will get full LED headlights, a high-beam control system, four-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, a large panoramic roof, power tailgate, and 20-inch wheels.

In addition, the initial modification includes adaptive suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers – it allows changing the crossover's ground clearance within a range of 80 mm. All versions except the sporty M50d will receive an Off-Road package with four settings: "Sand", "Gravel", "Stones", and "Snow". In each, the algorithms of the gearbox, all-wheel drive system, and responses to accelerator pedal presses change, and the system itself selects the most optimal ground clearance.
As an option for its largest crossover, BMW will offer laser headlights (shining 600 m ahead), five-zone climate control, advanced Bowers & Wilkins audio, and 22-inch wheels. Also, several active assistants will be available for the BMW X7: adaptive cruise control, lane keeping system, lane change assistant, and a warning system when reversing out of a parking spot (the car will brake itself if it sees an obstacle).
The driver of the BMW X7 (and all new models of the brand starting from March 2019) will be assisted by a smart assistant. It works on the same principle as Siri and "Alisa", that is, it can process voice requests. To call the assistant, it will be enough to say: "Hey, BMW" or "OK, BMW". The Germans promise to constantly update the system and improve the assistant's skills.
