According to the victim, he had not used the car for a long time due to heavy snowfall, but when he decided to resume driving and started it, he was horrified by the roar (even the alarms of nearby cars went off). After that, the man went to a service station, where diagnostics showed that his Honda had its catalytic converter cut off, the lambda probe torn out, and the mounts broken. Notably, all this time the car was in a place where a surveillance camera was installed.

In a comment to the publication, the motorist noted that buying a new catalytic converter would cost him about 20,000 UAH, and a lambda probe – 5,000. And that's not counting the cost of labor.

It is worth noting that AutoPortal reported the first known case of catalytic converter theft in Kyiv a month ago. This same article details how, when, and where this new type of car theft originated. The main reason for stealing catalytic converters is that they contain precious metals (albeit in small quantities).
