The draft of this act was prepared within the framework of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, the European Atomic Energy Community and their member states, as stated in the explanatory note.

The text of the draft law stipulates that for the official installation of gas cylinder equipment, the vehicle owner must send an official request to the main office of the automaker, wait for a response, translate it into Ukrainian, and then contact an authorized body, which must review this package of documents.

At the same time, the automaker has the right to request certificates for the equipment and materials used from the service station. Currently, the document is at the stage of consideration by the relevant committees of the Verkhovna Rada. If the law is adopted, motorists will have a hard time: processing requests, translations, and collecting permits will clearly discourage them from converting their vehicles. The question remains: how realistic is the adoption of this initiative?

Oleg Nazarenko, General Director of the All-Ukrainian Association of Automobile Importers and Dealers (UAAID), notes that during communication with high-ranking officials, it was possible to demonstrate that draft law No. 4683 does not correspond to either European practice or elementary logic. According to him, it seems that the document was created in the interests of officials, not in the interests of the state and the market.

At the moment, it is known that due to a significant number of shortcomings, it was decided to submit the document for expert evaluation, and its discussion was postponed until amendments are made. Thus, quick changes in the procedure for installing LPG equipment should not be expected. Time will tell how events develop further.
