As many motorists know well, when the temperature on the road surface rises above 50 degrees, there is a possibility of the road surface softening (in fact, it begins to melt). And if a heavy vehicle (truck, lorry) drives over such a surface, there is a high probability of dents and cracks appearing. So, to avoid such a negative phenomenon, roads in the UK have begun to be sprinkled with... salt!

However, not ordinary salt, but with a special admixture. In this case, the additive is stone dust: it absorbs excess bitumen and thus “stabilizes” the road surface, and also absorbs moisture from the air, which at least partially cools the asphalt.
It remains to be hoped that such an inexpensive but, as it turned out, effective “life hack” will be adopted by Ukrainian road workers. Well, for now, in our country, only one practice is used to protect roads from destruction in summer – restricting the passage of trucks during the daytime (until the temperature drops to the optimal level).
