Accident statistics: Ukraine records an increase in fatal accidents

Compared to the same period last year, the number of road accidents with injuries increased by 4% — to 6,736 cases. This trend is a serious concern.

The most common circumstances leading to fatalities:

• exceeding the speed limit — 438 deaths;

• driving in the oncoming lane outside of an overtaking maneuver — 58 deaths;

• pedestrians crossing the roadway outside of a crosswalk — 48 deaths.

The peak of accidents occurs in the evening hours — from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and the most risky situations are recorded on Fridays.
