According to him, 92 automatic recording cameras have already been installed so far. By June 1, there will be 130 of them, and by the end of the year – 400. By the way, it recently became known that the first cameras will soon appear in Odesa.

The Deputy Minister spoke about plans to implement a new model following the example of the Swedish Vision Zero, which aims to reduce the number of deaths on the roads to zero. To avoid systematic traffic violations, control is necessary.
“We plan to implement four approaches at once: installation of three types of photo and video recording cameras, strengthening the legislative framework, improving road infrastructure and the accident statistics system,” emphasized Anton Gerashchenko.
Also, the Deputy Minister announced the creation of an interactive map of Ukraine, where all accidents will be marked and statistics on accidents will be provided. It is being prepared jointly by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Infrastructure.
In addition, a draft law is being developed that will allow all citizens to record traffic violations using a smartphone. For this purpose, a special application has already been created and it is already working in test mode.
“We have studied the world experience when every phone in a car, if properly installed, records a traffic violation. The driver just needs to click on the screen and the police will receive information about violations. If we manage to implement all the planned projects, then road safety in Ukraine will be like in Sweden,” emphasized Anton Gerashchenko.
