The published video clearly shows that the Volkswagen Passat B6 wagon had sufficient power, but it clearly lacked traction to move the tractor with a semi-trailer, whose total weight reached four and a half tons. The car managed to start moving under such a load, but the speed remained extremely low — intense wheelspin got in the way, causing thick smoke to pour from under the wheels.
Such driving style can lead to serious breakdowns, so we do not recommend repeating this experiment. The owner of this car, apparently, was not bothered by this circumstance, nor by the general technical condition of his vehicle — this can be judged by the thick black smoke coming from the exhaust system when pressing the gas pedal.
Bonus
Almost at the same time, a similar incident was recorded on video on German roads. True, in that case it was not about entertainment (as with the Passat), but about real help on the highway. A 40-ton tanker truck failed to climb an icy road, and a wagon Audi A6 3.0 TDI quattro came to the rescue. The diesel "estate" with proprietary all-wheel drive easily took the truck in tow and helped it resume movement.
But it is important to clarify: the Audi did not pull the heavy MAN by itself, but only provided additional assistance — the truck was also moving uphill under its own power with the engine running.
It is worth recalling that the Volkswagen Passat B6 was produced from 2005 to 2010. The model was offered with petrol engines ranging from 1.4 to 3.6 liters, as well as turbodiesels with a volume of 1.6–2.0 liters. Transmissions — manual, automatic, and preselective "robot" DSG. There were two body styles — sedan and wagon. The Passat in this form is still in demand on the Ukrainian market, though already as a used car.
As for the Audi, the video shows a C7 generation model — such an A6 rolled off the assembly line from 2011 to 2018. In addition to the three-liter diesel, under the hood could be petrol units with a volume of 2.0, 2.5, 2.8, and 3.0 liters, as well as a two-liter heavy-fuel engine. Body — sedan or wagon.
