For a long time, nothing was known about the Volvo record holder. The car "disappeared from the radar" three years ago. This happened after the death of Irv in 2018. However, just last week, the media learned the fate of the car, which AutoPortal wrote about in this article. It turned out that after Gordon's death, his car passed into the hands of his daughter, who, in turn, sold the "survivable" P1800 to Volvo itself, which undertook to maintain the coupe in proper technical condition and use it as a museum exhibit.

And now, as you can see, Volvo has not just managed to preserve it – the car is still capable of traveling. Interestingly, the blogger went on the test with Nino Gambina, a mechanic who had serviced Irv's car since the 1980s. During the trip, the master spoke about his 40-year friendship with Gordon, recalling his driving style, punctuality, and meticulous care for the P1800.

Interestingly, the car still has its original engine. Since the car left the assembly line, the engine has been repaired only twice. As of May 2018, the exact mileage of the Volvo was 3.25 million miles, which is equivalent to 5.23 million km. By the way, Irv Gordon entered the Guinness Book of Records in 2013 when his car covered 3 million miles, i.e., 4.8 million km. He was awarded a diploma for "the highest mileage among non-commercial vehicles."

This story is a beautiful illustration of the bond between a person and their faithful car.
