Professor Aleksandar Belić from the University of Belgrade is working on the revival of the legendary brand, and the appearance of the new product is being developed by stylist Darko Marčeta. The modern Yugo retains the recognizable features of the original: it is a three-door hatchback with sharp, "chopped" body lines, like the 1980 model. However, the updated car will receive LED optics, a sporty rear wing, and large alloy wheels that give it a modern look.

According to the plan, the Yugo 2027 should become a more affordable alternative for buyers who do not want to overpay for the Volkswagen Polo, Opel Corsa, or Renault Clio. The appearance of a five-door modification is not ruled out. Under the hood, there will likely be petrol and hybrid engines, available with a manual or automatic gearbox. The possibility of an electric version is also being discussed — more details are promised to be announced in the fall.

Let us remind you that the first generation of Yugo was produced from 1980 to 2008, using the technical base of the FIAT 127 and 128. The car was present in the markets of many European countries, and the lineup included both hatchbacks and convertibles. Engine power ranged from 45 to 68 horsepower.

Why did the Yugo gain fame as one of the worst cars in history?
The reason is simple: this car became the embodiment of cheapness and constant problems. It was criticized for poor assembly, cheap materials, frequent breakdowns, and the lack of even minimal conveniences. In the West, the Yugo became an object of ridicule in TV shows and the press, and among drivers, the opinion was established that budget does not mean reliable. However, perhaps in 2027 this notorious loser will be able to pleasantly surprise.
