It is curious that back in the last decade Mitsubishi already had a model called Airtrek — that was the name under which the first-generation Outlander was sold on the domestic Japanese market. Now this name has returned to use, but for an electric crossover that will have to compete with such battery SUVs as Skoda Enyaq iV, Volkswagen ID.4 and Tesla Model Y.

The dimensions of the new Mitsubishi Airtrek are as follows: length — 4586 mm, width — 1920 mm, height — 1728 mm, wheelbase — 2830 mm. Thus, it is slightly shorter than the mentioned trio of competitors, but comparable in width, and even surpasses them in height.

The design of the Mitsubishi Airtrek is made in the recognizable corporate style Dynamic Shield. At the front, a characteristic X-shaped layout with two-tier optics stands out, and the rear is notable for horizontal lights made in the shape of the letter Y. Inside, a digital instrument panel and a large touchscreen display of the multimedia system are installed.

The certified range of the Mitsubishi Airtrek is stated at 500–600 km according to the outdated NEDC cycle. In practice, one should count on approximately 450–500 km per charge (battery capacity 80 kWh). The car has one motor, it develops 184 hp and 350 Nm of torque.

Serial production of the new electric crossover will be established at the facilities of the joint venture GAC Mitsubishi, located in Guangzhou. How much the new product will cost is still a mystery, but according to preliminary forecasts, the price is unlikely to exceed the threshold of 35 thousand dollars.
