At the same time, a significant portion of drivers still believes that branded fuel is not worth the extra cost, saying that all gas stations "pour it from the same barrel." To check whether there really are differences, specialists from the Institute of Consumer Expertise organized comparative tests, during which they measured power, torque, and, most importantly, the real fuel efficiency of different gasolines.

For the test, three variants of improved A-95 fuel were purchased: the most expensive on the market, OKKO Pulls 95, one of the cheapest — Euro Plus from BRSM-Nafta, as well as Energy from the state network UKRNAFTA, which fell between them in price.

The researchers aimed to find out how much these samples differ in energy indicators — engine output in terms of power and torque, as well as to record actual fuel consumption under conditions as close to ideal as possible.

The work used a Dynapack dynamometer stand certified by international organizations. This equipment allows reproducing real driving conditions — from load on the chassis to oncoming airflow, the speed of which changes along with speedometer readings. On each fuel sample, specialists recorded torque, power, and, using a flow meter, fuel efficiency. The test vehicle was a TOYOTA CAMRY of 2024 with a mileage of 17 thousand kilometers.

In total, several dozen measurement cycles were performed. The tests took place in "highway" mode — in the highest gear, in the speed range from 80 to 100 km/h. This approach avoids errors associated with driving style and differences in gear shifting.

The results answered the question that worries many Ukrainian drivers: is there a difference between branded fuel grades? As measurements showed, there is a difference, and it is quite significant. Torque and power on OKKO Pulls 95 and UKRNAFTA Energy turned out to be the same. In contrast, for Euro Plus from BRSM-Nafta, these indicators were almost 5 percent lower. As for consumption, the best result was shown by UKRNAFTA Energy — 5.0 l/100 km, slightly more for Pulls 95 — 5.2 l/100 km, and Euro Plus consumed the most — 5.5 l/100 km.

Thus, the test TOYOTA CAMRY with a full tank of UKRNAFTA Energy covered 1200 kilometers, while on the "branded" A-95 from BRSM — only 1090. Experts believe that this difference is due to the quality characteristics of the fuel, its composition, the direct manufacturer, as well as the conditions in which the fuel was transported and stored.

Test results

✔ Torque and power: OKKO Pulls 95 and UKRNAFTA Energy showed identical results, while Euro Plus (BRSM-Nafta) had these indicators almost 5% lower.

✔ Fuel consumption (l/100 km):
UKRNAFTA Energy – 5.0 l
OKKO Pulls 95 – 5.2 l
Euro Plus (BRSM-Nafta) – 5.5 l

✔ Maximum range on a full tank:
UKRNAFTA Energy – 1200 km
OKKO Pulls 95 – 1154 km
Euro Plus (BRSM-Nafta) – 1090 km

Experts associate the differences in consumption and characteristics with the quality of the fuel, its composition, manufacturer, as well as transportation and storage conditions.
