This is evidenced by the statistics of the Opendatabot service. All data is well displayed in tables: for example, you can see that in the period 2016-2018, no more than 220 thousand cars were imported into our country annually, while the average age of these vehicles did not exceed 5 years. But then there is a sharp jump: in 2019, over 563 thousand cars were imported and cleared in Ukraine, in 2020 – more than 422 thousand, and in less than half a year of 2021 – almost 194 thousand. The average age here is already higher – 9-11 years.

That is, as you can see, over the years, imported vehicles have increased by 2-2.5 times.

Why did a sharp jump occur in 2019? It's simple – at the end of 2018, the authorities adopted the law on "euro plates", which allowed clearing cars much cheaper than before. As a result, owners of cars with foreign registration rushed to register their "iron horses" with Ukrainian plates en masse. But in 2020, the statistics already went down a bit: those who wanted to clear their cars had already done so long ago, while other "euro plate" owners decided to wait for better times when clearing would become even more affordable.
Now, as expected, 2021 will also be "fruitful": this month, the law on affordable clearing came into force (on average, car clearance costs 1,000 euros under it), however, it applies only to those cars that were imported before December 31, 2020 (inclusive). The problem of "euro plates" has still not been fully resolved.
