This was stated by economist Boris Kushniruk. "The principle by which it was decided to regulate gasoline prices is understandable and quite common in Ukraine. Using the same formula that was now applied to regulate fuel prices for cars, the population has been paying for natural gas for years. The price of gas is determined by the 'Amsterdam+' formula. Nuclear power plants purchase uranium ore and nuclear fuel, and thermal power plants bought coal until 2019," the expert reported.

According to him, this decision is logical and does not raise questions from the IMF, the EU, or the World Bank. Energy resource prices (gasoline, gas, coal) are in one way or another tied to the import parity formula. However, price regulation should have been handled by the Antimonopoly Committee, not the Cabinet of Ministers.
Recall that state regulation of fuel prices in Ukraine was introduced on April 14. The maximum markup is 5 UAH/l for gasoline and 7 UAH/l for diesel.
However, immediately after that, a number of gas station networks stopped selling more expensive premium fuel grades. However, after the Cabinet's clarification that the restrictions apply only to standard types of gasoline and diesel, sales were resumed.
