It was compiled by Auto.ria experts, comparing data on the car's mileage in advertisements with information from independent registries (where the car's mileage is periodically recorded). Very often, discrepancies are found between these data.

As it turned out, mileage is most often rolled back on used cars from Korea. Over 40% of Kia Optima/K5 and about 35% of Hyundai Sonata are sold with rolled-back odometers. This is explained simply – these models were often used in Korean taxi services.

Also, mileage fraud has been noted on used commercial vehicles like Volkswagen Caddy and Transporter, Renault Trafic. And it's understandable: such models have very high mileage.

But used cars from the USA are most often sold with real mileage, because it's very easy to check on American websites. Although recently, Ukrainian dealers have started rolling back odometers on them too.

By the way, cars with "drawn" mileage are not always cheaper than usual on the market. Often, fraudsters don't want to raise suspicion, so they set an average price for the model.
