As reported by the publication TsTS, citing Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Anna Yurchenko, toll roads will duplicate existing free routes. They will be built from scratch, in a "clean field."

The first toll road will be Krakovets-Lviv-Brody-Rivne. The first stage of construction is Krakovets-Lviv-Brody-Rivne, the second and third are Lviv-Brody and Brody-Rivne. All three "pieces" are planned to be launched and put into operation separately. Such a road will become an alternative to the Kyiv-Chop highway and the Lviv-Krakovets road. The initiator of its construction (at least the first stage) was the company Avtomahistral-Yuh.

"This is a new road that will periodically intersect the existing road via interchanges," the official emphasized.

The second toll road should be an alternative to the Stryi-Mukachevo route and the same Kyiv-Chop highway. This road will be built east of the Kyiv-Chop highway. Yurchenko emphasized that thanks to this route, travel time from Lviv to Zakarpattia will be reduced by 2.5 times – currently it is 2.5 hours, and in winter even more. The construction of this road was initiated by the company Onur.

The infrastructure ministry emphasized that for both projects, the initiators are currently preparing a feasibility study (FS). For the Krakovets-Lviv-Brody-Rivne road, the FS should be prepared by the end of this year, and for the Stryi-Mukachevo route – a bit later. The decision on the feasibility of each project will be made by Ukravtodor, then they must be agreed with the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance. That is, there are many bureaucratic obstacles on the way to the appearance of the first toll roads, but the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure is confident that the first toll road could be launched as early as 2023.

Recall that earlier the Cabinet of Ministers approved the maximum cost of travel on toll roads.
