If the reconstruction yields results, Khreshchatyk will be pedestrian-only not just on weekends. "Kyiv's central street Khreshchatyk can be made fully pedestrian, without significant losses for drivers and the city's transport infrastructure, no earlier than in three years," said Ivan Shpyliovyi, acting head of Kyiv's transport infrastructure.

He also said that, "Unfortunately, if Khreshchatyk is completely closed today, the situation on parallel streets Volodymyrska, Pushkinska, and on Pechersk will significantly worsen."

To make Khreshchatyk fully pedestrian, the reconstruction of Poshtova and Kontraktova squares, as well as the Podilsko-Voskresenskyi passage, must first be completed.

In addition, it is necessary to build exits on the banks of the Dnipro. Currently, there are projects for tunnels between the left and right banks of the Dnipro, but unfortunately, there is no money for construction.

Earlier, we wrote that the construction of the metro to Troieshchyna is being canceled again.
