Initially, this Jaguar was expected to fetch just over 14.2 thousand dollars — that was the starting price. However, during the auction, a buyer was found who paid nine times more. For comparison: with that money, one could have purchased, say, a new BMW 7-Series in decent trim.

This Jaguar XK150 S ended up in a damaged state back in 1996. The third owner, who bought the car in 1969, lost control on a country road on a rainy night and crashed into a tree. The driver himself was unharmed, and the car was sent to a workshop for repairs, but they never managed to restore it — soon after, the owner passed away. After that, no one touched the car: it sat in a shed for over twenty years, waiting for its moment.

And now that moment has come. Apparently, the new owner plans to restore the XK150, because for collectors this model holds great value — intact examples currently fetch from 300,000 dollars. The main reason is rarity: the British produced only 69 such coupes. In its era, this car was considered one of the fastest: a 3.8-liter engine with 265 horsepower accelerated it to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds (and this is the 60s!), with a top speed of 214 km/h. Additionally, the Jaguar XK150 S went down in history as the first car to feature disc brakes on all four wheels.
