In 2019, photos of a mock-up of such a car were first published online – the car was shown at a ¾ angle. Now, the Facebook community “Ukrainian Cars” has published another photo of this model: it is shown from the front, with a different design (in particular, instead of round headlights – rectangular ones, like on a Moskvich). Apparently, more than one mock-up of such a car was created.

It is known that the development of a car with a fundamentally new layout began at ZAZ in the late 1960s, and a finished mock-up was shown in the early 1970s. The model had a sedan body type and was given angular shapes. When designing the new model, ZAZ engineers were guided by the VAZ-2101, which, in turn, was a local Soviet version of the FIAT 124, as well as by European examples such as the Volvo 144 and the small DAF 44/46.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), ZAZ did not even get to building a prototype of this car. Well, the first front-wheel-drive model in the plant's history was the Tavria, which was put on the assembly line only in 1988.
By the way, quite recently, photos of a little-known ZAZ electric car also appeared online – it was built on the basis of the hunchbacked Zaporozhets. However, it was not in Zaporizhzhia.
