Stella Li, Vice President of BYD, has confirmed the company's plans to build a third plant in Europe. The Chinese manufacturer already operates two enterprises — in Hungary and Turkey. The Hungarian plant will start operating in October 2025, while Turkish production is scheduled for March 2026.

Germany is considered one of the main candidates for the location of the new production line — due to its advanced technologies and skilled workforce. At the same time, there are factors that could work against this choice: significant labor costs, expensive energy, and strict industrial regulation. BYD is also analyzing other location options that may be more economically attractive.

In addition, political circumstances could influence the decision. States with a more friendly attitude toward China may gain an advantage. Sales volumes of BYD in Europe and the level of utilization of the plants in Hungary and Turkey after they start operating will also be taken into account.

The final decision on BYD's third European site is likely to be announced soon. If the Chinese concern settles on Germany, it will be a landmark event not only for the company itself but also for the entire European automotive market.
