Hongqi is the premium division of the Chinese concern FAW, which has long been associated with the fleet for top officials of the PRC. But the HS6 PHEV model demonstrates that the brand is increasingly mastering eco-friendly technologies and aiming at competitors among European luxury brands.

The release of the Hongqi HS6 PHEV is scheduled for November 15. The car received a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that works together with an electric motor. Two modifications will be offered: a front-wheel drive version with 225 horsepower and an all-wheel drive version with 495 horsepower. Which one set the record is not yet reported, but both versions are built on the same hybrid platform.

Customers will have two battery options — 23.9 and 39.5 kWh. The range on pure electricity is from 152 to 250 km. In the combined cycle, when both the internal combustion engine and the electric motor operate, the manufacturer claims 1460–1650 km, but the real run showed that the system is capable of more.

The interior of the HS6 meets premium standards: leather upholstery, two widescreen displays on the front panel, an audio system with 12 speakers, as well as heating, ventilation, and electric adjustments for both front and rear seats. This is one of the most modern and comfortable Chinese crossovers in the plug-in hybrid class.

So, the HS6 PHEV not only broke the record but also proved that hybrid technology can combine the advantages of electric drive and the reliability of a traditional internal combustion engine. For the Chinese brand, this is another significant trump card in the fight for a place on the world stage — and it was presented impressively: 2300 km without a single stop — this is already a legendary level.
