Fraudulent offers to buy driver's licenses have spread online — such ads can be found on social media, messengers, and websites. Scammers claim that the document will supposedly be legitimate and even entered into official databases, but in reality, this is a deception.

To convince clients, criminals use the official style of the MVS service centers: employee IDs, logos, and photos of real employees. Conversations are conducted via messengers, and money is transferred to personal bank accounts. The document itself usually arrives by mail, but there is no trace of it in the registry.

Deceived people who then contact the MVS service center to add data to the database or replace the "plastic" may face a police call and criminal liability for using fake documents.

How to spot a fake

Counterfeit driver's licenses are often almost indistinguishable from the original, but there are methods to verify them:

  • Special mark. Starting from August of the previous year, every driver's license has a unique code consisting of three letters and six digits.

  • Online verification. The portal of the Main Service Center of the MVS has a service for document verification. It is enough to enter the series, license number, and the owner's date of birth to determine its authenticity.

How to legally obtain a license

The MVS service centers emphasize: a real license can only be obtained after completing training at an accredited driving school and passing exams successfully. The first license is issued in person, and the photo is taken right at the center. There are no other official ways.

Penalties for forgeries

The legislation provides for serious punishment for creating and using fake documents, including fines, restriction of liberty, or imprisonment.

So do not give in to scammers' promises and put your future at risk. Only the official path to obtaining a license ensures safety and confidence behind the wheel.
