According to the CEO of the Ukrainian Automobile Dealers Association (UAADA) Oleh Nazarenko, the law on the abolition of the recycling fee for cars will be considered by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine next week, and almost all parliamentary factions are ready to vote for it.
It is worth recalling that the recycling fee for passenger cars is calculated based on a base rate of 5.5 thousand hryvnias and a special coefficient. Such arithmetic makes a new car more expensive by 1.5–3 thousand dollars, and a used foreign car imported into the country by 3-5 thousand dollars.

The recycling scheme itself can safely be called corrupt, because in exchange for the 80 million hryvnias already received by the state budget of Ukraine since September 1, domestic companies involved in the production of new and recycling of old cars need to pay 960 million hryvnias. At the same time, there is no real need for recycling old vehicles in Ukraine.
Nazarenko hopes that following the abolition of the recycling fee, on April 15 the Rada will also vote for the abolition of special duties on foreign cars. At least, special duties should be significantly reduced in accordance with current international trade rules.
