How positive this change is will only become clear over time, but it is expected that the total savings from such a merger will reach approximately 400 billion yen per year (equivalent to 3.86 billion US dollars). In addition to sharing production facilities, significant benefits are planned to be gained through the optimization of administrative processes, logistics organization, and other related aspects of operations.
The first enterprise where models of both brands will be produced on a single assembly line will be a new plant located in India. Its launch is scheduled for 2015, and by 2020 this approach will be extended to the alliance's production sites located in more than ten countries.
Thanks to the use of unified components and parts, the concern expects to reduce costs by 20–30 percent, and the optimization of engineering processes will save up to 30–40% of expenses.
