Visually, the new model can be distinguished from the standard crossover by its two-tone body paint and the Maybach emblem on the rear pillar. The electric car also received a plug with a different design on the front panel, imitating a radiator grille, a large amount of chrome in the trim, and inserts in the lower air intakes with a pattern of tiny Maybach logos.

The overall interior design has not changed. Premium Nappa leather and wood veneer are used in the trim. There is also ambient lighting with 64 shades and individual settings. In the EQS 680, Mercedes abandoned the optional third row of seats and added a fixed partition behind the rear ones. The seats are equipped with heating, ventilation, and massage functions.

For second-row passengers, additional 11.6-inch screens are offered, mounted on the backs of the front seats and providing access to the MBUX multimedia system, a mini-fridge for bottles, heated cup holders, four USB-C ports, and two HDMI. A Burmester audio system with fifteen speakers is also claimed.

The Maybach EQS received a modified air suspension for a more comfortable ride and an all-wheel-drive chassis. It is powered by two electric motors with 649 hp and 950 Nm of torque. The setup provides acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. A range of 600 km is provided by a 107.8 kWh battery.
Production of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 will be established at the company's American plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Sales in the US will start by the end of 2023. In Europe, the new model will appear early next year at a price of $200,000.
