Toyota is preparing an updated Land Cruiser 300 for release on the Japanese market on September 16. The main change concerns the engine lineup: the regular petrol V6 will be removed, and its place will be taken by a hybrid unit. The diesel will remain in service and will receive a new base trim. The i-Force Max hybrid system was borrowed from the Lexus LX700h. It combines a 3.5-liter twin-turbo petrol V6, an electric motor, and a 10-speed automatic. Total output is 457 hp and 790 Nm - the highest figures in Land Cruiser history.
Due to the battery under the cargo area, the fuel tank capacity has been reduced from 80 to 68 liters, and the weight has increased by 170 kg compared to the previous petrol version. The wading depth remains at 700 mm.
In Japan, the hybrid will be available for ZX and GR Sport trims. They will get seven seats, a digital instrument cluster, a multimedia system with 12.3-inch screens, a head-up display, a JBL audio system, and heated and ventilated seats.
Diesel Toyota Land Cruiser 300 received a new base GX version
An alternative to the hybrid will remain the 3.3-liter twin-turbo diesel V6, which develops 304 hp and 700 Nm. For it, Toyota has prepared a new entry-level GX trim with a five-seat cabin.
The GX will be equipped with 18-inch wheels, fabric seats, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch multimedia display, and an audio system with six speakers.
According to preliminary data, the diesel Land Cruiser 300 GX will cost from $39,500. The hybrid ZX is estimated from $61,400, and the HEV GR Sport from $63,900.
