As the manufacturer reported, the entire first batch of 1,500 cars was "snapped up" in just 20 minutes. Deliveries of the Lyriq, by the way, will begin in 2022.

Such a frenzy of demand can be explained by two factors. First, the low "reservation" price. To secure the right to be among the first owners of the Cadillac electric car, one had to make a symbolic prepayment of $100. Second, the surprisingly low cost of the car itself compared to competitors. For example, the price of the Cadillac Lyriq in the US is $59,990, while for a Tesla Model X you need to pay over $90,000, an Audi e-Tron will cost almost $66,000, and for a Jaguar I-Pace they ask for nearly $70,000.

However, unlike its rivals, Cadillac cannot offer all-wheel-drive versions of its Lyriq. The car is available only in a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive configuration with 340 hp. But the battery is quite capacious – 100 kWh. According to the company, it is enough for 482 km of range.

Among other features of Cadillac Lyriq – a striking "non-electric" appearance (in the manner of fuel models), a 33-inch curved display in the cabin, and the proprietary Super Cruise highway autopilot.
