Volkswagen has reported that 23,500 Europeans have already placed orders for the ID.4 (as of the end of February), and by the end of the year, the automaker plans to produce approximately 150,000 units of this model worldwide. This corresponds to a third of the total volume of electric vehicles (450,000 units) that VW plans to produce during the year. Assembly of the new crossover is set up at the German plant in Zwickau.

The Volkswagen ID.4 became the brand's first electric crossover and a technical relative of the golf-class ID.3 hatchback — both cars are built on the unified MEB platform. Customers have access to versions with one or two electric motors producing 204 and 302 hp, as well as two traction battery options: 52 and 77 kWh. The range on a single charge reaches 520 km, measured according to the WLTP cycle.

Already in the base trim, the car is equipped with a keyless entry system, wireless smartphone charging, dual-zone climate control, heated steering wheel, rain sensor, collision warning function, adaptive cruise control, as well as assistants that keep the car in its lane and alert to rear traffic. For an additional fee, you can order support for SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi module, and an electric tailgate drive.

In Germany, the price of the VW ID.4 starts at 37 thousand euros, excluding government incentives and subsidies.
