Volkswagen T7 debuted in June, but at IAA-2021 the Germans showed the car live for the first time. In the photos presented in the article, you can see how the new model looks in its natural habitat.

Volkswagen T7 is currently produced only in the passenger version Multivan, while the cargo Transporter will appear later (the "old" T6.1 is still in production). With the change of generations, the car has changed radically. Both externally and technically.

The Volkswagen T7 is based on the new MQB platform. For example, the Volkswagen Golf VIII is also built on it. The use of the new platform allowed the manufacturer to implement many features, the most notable of which is perhaps the introduction of a plug-in (plug-in hybrid) installation along with conventional modifications (petrol and diesel).

The new T7 looks impressive. At the front, the massive lower part and dynamic headlights catch the eye. In profile – a larger angle of inclination of the windshield and a new design of the adjacent pillar with an additional window. At the rear – slanting lights. The increase in size is impressive. Thus, the length of the van is 4973 mm (+69 mm), width – 1941 mm (+37 mm), and height – 1903 mm (-47 mm). The wheelbase has increased by 124 mm to 3124 mm.

In the interior, several solutions immediately attract attention. The first is the dashboard a la digital cockpit (instrument cluster, multimedia). The second is the absence of a central console with a transmission selector. In its place there can be either a "void" or an armrest with cup holders, which is formed from the table of the second row of seats and extends forward. In the 7-seat configuration, at least 469 liters are available for luggage. If only two rows of seats are installed, the volume increases to 1844 liters.

As for the range of power units, it includes two TSI with 136 and 204 hp, a pair of TDI with 150 and 204 hp. The hybrid version is represented by a drive based on a petrol engine, with a total power of 218 hp. On electric power alone, the hybrid Multivan can travel 50 km (battery – capacity 13 kWh).
Deliveries of the Volkswagen T7 to dealers will begin at the end of the year.
