The new model is built on the CMP (Common Modular Platform), which already underpins the new Peugeot 208 and DS3 Crossback. The overall length of the 2008 has increased by 140 millimeters compared to its predecessor. Thanks to a wheelbase increased by 60 mm, the crossover's trunk volume has grown to 434 liters (+10 liters).

The car's design echoes the new-generation compact hatchback 208, which was presented at the Geneva Motor Show this spring. The vehicle features massive wheel arches, a high line of the sculpted hood, a wide grille, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The crossover is also equipped with signature lighting with triple LED strips and a sporty exhaust system with two tailpipes.

The Peugeot 2008 features the signature i-Cockpit interior, previously used on the 3008 and 5008 crossovers. The cabin includes a 10-inch touchscreen color display for multimedia, wireless phone charging, 4 USB ports, TomTom navigation, a head-up display, and a 10-speaker audio system.

Optionally, the car can be purchased with a panoramic roof. The driver has access to adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, parking assistance, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and traffic sign recognition.

The new crossover is powered by a 1.2-liter petrol turbo engine PureTech. The unit's power can be 100, 130, or 155 horsepower. The engine lineup also includes a 1.5-liter diesel engine BlueHDi. The power of this unit is 100 or 130 horsepower. The engines can work with a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic. Drive is front-wheel only.

The Peugeot 2008 also received a fully electric version. The new model is equipped with a 50 kWh battery and an electric motor. The power of this modification of the crossover is 136 hp and 260 Nm of torque. Without recharging, the car can travel up to 310 kilometers. Charging the batteries to 80% will take about half an hour.
