The Lada XRay Cross is equipped with a CVT from the Japanese company Jatco, which has been installed on cars of the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi alliance for several years. At the same time, the transmission was specially recalibrated and refined taking into account the specifics of Russian roads.

The CVT with an additional two-stage reduction gear sector has a mode simulating manual gear shifting, which "facilitates overtaking, uphill driving, trailer towing, engine braking, and also improves acoustic comfort in the cabin."
The new transmission will work with a 1.6-liter 16-valve engine, the characteristics of which have not yet been announced. For example, on the regular Lada XRay hatchback, this engine produces 106 horsepower.
The start dates of sales, trim levels, and prices for the Lada XRay Cross with a continuously variable transmission will be announced later.
