The restyled XC90 can be distinguished from its predecessor by the modified radiator grille and wheels of a different design. New configuration options have become available for the interior — the top four-seat modification and the seven-seat version have been joined by a configuration with six seats.

The crossover's engine lineup has been supplemented with an improved hybrid unit with a kinetic energy recovery system during braking, which improves fuel economy by 15% and reduces harmful emissions.

The list of active safety systems has been supplemented with a function to prevent crossing into oncoming traffic, a cross-traffic alert system, and an automatic braking function.

The updated XC90 received an improved Sensus infotainment system, which now supports not only the Apple CarPlay interface but also Android Auto.

Production of the modernized Volvo XC90 crossover will begin in May at the plant in the Swedish district of Torslanda.
