Volvo P1800 is the car with the world's most record-breaking mileage. Moreover, the aforementioned Irv was the first and only owner of the "surviving" two-door. The media started talking about the unusual tandem of the "Swede" and the American back in the 1980s. By 1987, Gordon had driven his Volvo 1.6 million km, by 2002 – 3.2 million km. The last officially recorded figure was 4,891,041 km – that was in 2013. After that, due to his age and health condition, Irv drove the car less and less. In 2018, the man passed away during a trip to China, and at that time it was only known that the coupe had covered over 4.9 million km. After that, no one heard anything about the fate of the Volvo P1800.

And now, as it became known three years later, the manufacturer contacted Gordon's family through its North American division and offered to buy the P1800. Irv's daughter, Danielle, kindly agreed. After her father's death, the girl had to return to her family in Argentina, and leaving the car in the USA was akin to abandoning it to its doom. At the same time, she did not dare to transport the Volvo to Latin America, as she was not sure that she would be able to properly maintain the valuable specimen at her place of residence (simply because there are no qualified workshops of the necessary level in Argentina), so the Swedes' offer seemed most rational to her.

Now, the Volvo P1800, which undoubtedly has historical value, is being "looked after" by Volvo itself.
