Assembly of the new model will be set up at BMW's plant in South Carolina, USA — the same place where the X3, X4, X5, and X6 models are currently produced, which are supplied both to the local market and for export.

The large SUV will be based on the modular CLAR platform, which first appeared on the new flagship sedan 7-Series. The X7 will share with this model the line of diesel and gasoline engines, up to the top V12. In addition, the range will include a hybrid version using the powertrain from the X5 xDrive40e with a total output of 313 horsepower. Drive — only all-wheel drive, with the modern xDrive system.

The exterior of the model will be executed in the spirit of the Concept X7 iPerformance, shown last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. From younger BMW crossovers, such as the X5 and X6, the car will differ primarily in a three-row cabin designed for six people — two seats in each row.

The main rivals for the new model will be the Range Rover, Mercedes-Benz GLS, Audi Q7, and Cadillac Escalade. The Bavarian manufacturer expects to sell 45,000 units of the X7 annually. Earlier it was reported that the price of the car could be about 130,000 euros.
