The BAW C71 differs from its Swedish “donor” not only in its updated front optics, modified radiator grille, different bumpers and rear lights, but also in its powertrain. Instead of an internal combustion engine, it is equipped with an electric motor, whose technical parameters have not yet been disclosed.

According to Chinacartimes, the Chinese manufacturer intends to assemble 3,000 such electric vehicles, and also, together with the country's authorities, create an infrastructure of charging stations for cars with an electric powertrain.

By the end of the year, Beijing Auto Works promises to launch the C60 sedan, built on the Saab 9-3 platform, into mass production. Compared to the original model, the new product received slightly updated rear optics, different bumpers and a new radiator grille. Unlike the BAW C71, this car is equipped not with an electric powertrain, but with a conventional internal combustion engine.

According to unconfirmed information, the BAW C60 may get a 1.8-liter engine in naturally aspirated and turbocharged versions.
