Earlier, AvtoPortal reported that electric scooter users began to be held accountable and punished with fines. By September 27, 16 accidents involving them had been recorded in the register of court decisions, and all of them were recognized as administrative violations. In parallel, two cases were considered under a criminal article — in both cases, the court imposed a fine of over 100,000 hryvnias for causing harm to the health of other road users.
Now another illustrative case has emerged. In Odesa, the Prymorskyi District Court issued a punishment to a scooter driver under Part 1 of Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. Patrol officers stopped a man who showed visible signs of intoxication. He refused to undergo a medical examination, thereby violating clause 2.5 of the Traffic Rules, which became the basis for the offense.
The court examined the administrative protocol and video recordings, after which it ordered the violator to pay 17,000 hryvnias for driving while intoxicated. Additionally, he is prohibited from getting behind the wheel of any vehicle for a year. The man is also obliged to pay a court fee of 457 hryvnias.
