One of the bills proposes reducing the cost of customs clearance to approximately 1,000 euros. As noted at a briefing on February 15 by the deputy head of the committee, Alexander Kovalchuk, it concerns those cars that were imported before December 31, 2020. According to the document, the cost of the car will be “thrown out” of the calculation formula. Only the age of the vehicle, type and engine size will be taken into account.

Thus, such customs clearance will, in fact, be one-time – those car owners who imported their cars after the specified date will not be able to use it (if the bill is adopted). In turn, activists disagree with this provision: they demand cheap customs clearance on a permanent basis.

As for the second document, it is precisely aimed at resolving the problem of cars with European license plates that have been imported since the beginning of 2021. Its details are unknown, but the finance committee noted that they want to make this bill such that it would allow “overcoming corruption schemes, filling the budget and reducing the cost of customs clearance.” Work on this draft law is being carried out gradually, Kovalchuk summed up.

By the way, earlier AvtoPortal named the number of used cars sold in Ukraine in 2020 and published a list of the most popular cars on the domestic secondary market.
