Compared to previous years, the situation has not changed much. The most popular car color in the world is still white: in 2020, 40% of buyers worldwide chose it.
In second place is black (17%), and in third place are gray and silver (13%). The TOP-5 most popular colors in the world are:
- White – 40%;
- Black – 17%;
- Gray/silver – 13%;
- Blue – 8%;
- Red – 6%.
Of course, buyer preferences vary significantly by region. For example, in countries with warm climates, white is more popular – in the Asia-Pacific region, for instance, 48% of buyers chose it. In North America, 21% of sold cars are black, and in Europe, 20% are gray. And in Australia, 3% of cars are brown, although this color is generally not very popular worldwide.
In total, over a thousand different colors were used by various automakers in 2020. The most shades are found in blue (as many as 160) and gray (140).
