Presidential press secretary Svyatoslav Tsegolko announced on his social media page that the head of state had signed the law on the import of used cars. The ceremony took place in the presence of deputies from various factions.
According to Tsegolko, the parties agreed to introduce amendments to the document as early as Thursday to exclude possible abuses.
Recall that the adopted law reduces the excise tax on imported used cars by 2–28 times — to 0.102–2.2 euros per cubic centimeter of cylinder volume. The exact rate depends on the type of vehicle and the power of its engine. The benefits apply only to cars that meet Euro-5 environmental standards and higher, i.e., vehicles manufactured no earlier than 2010.
The document also provides preferences for citizens who import cars for personal use or for third parties on the basis of sales contracts, supply, donation, commission, agency, and other civil law agreements or by court decision. In such a case, it is allowed to import no more than one car per year.
It is not yet clear what specific amendments the president intends to introduce, and why his press service only mentioned this without providing details. The situation will become clearer on Thursday when the details of the amendments are known.
