The host announced his departure from Top Gear via his Twitter microblog. It can be said that Chris Evans became the first person invited by the British Broadcasting Corporation to the updated lineup of the show after Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May left, and now he is also the first to decide to say goodbye to the project.
"In my career, I have not met a more dedicated team. However, I feel that my departure will benefit the program. At the same time, I remain a devoted fan of the show — I was one before and will remain one in the future," he wrote.
Among the reasons for this decision are disagreements within the renewed Top Gear team. After the premiere episode, actor Matt LeBlanc, known for the series "Friends," stated that he would leave the program if Evans did not do so first. LeBlanc complained about Evans' rude treatment of the show's staff and told producers that working together was impossible for them.
