Just last month, Autoportal wrote (and showed with the example of prices for new and used Kia Soul) that such a situation has developed in the USA. Now this trend has reached Australia – there, Suzuki Jimny crossovers with mileage are already more expensive than those without it.
As the local publication Dmarge writes, if a new Suzuki Jimny can be bought in Australia (converted from the local currency) for about 22 thousand US dollars, then, for example, for a similar car (base trim, manual) but from 2019 and with a mileage of about 41 thousand km, the owner is now asking as much as 26.4 thousand dollars. Another example is given – the same Jimny, but with an automatic transmission, and a bit fresher (2020, 1600 km mileage), is valued at as much as 38.9 thousand dollars!

Overall, Australian colleagues write that as of May 4, 47 used Suzuki Jimny were listed for sale in Australia, and none of them cost less than a new one.
The reason for this "chaos" is disruptions in the supply of new cars (due to the corona crisis) and, as a result, the formation of a shortage. At the same time, there is huge demand for the Jimny in Australia: in this small continental country, SUVs are very popular – whether it's a small Suzuki crossover or a big body-on-frame vehicle like the Toyota Land Cruiser.
