As part of this plan, the company will spend 1 billion euros on re-equipping its European plant located in Cologne, Germany. After restructuring, the enterprise will fully switch to producing electric vehicles. It is expected that the first Ford electric car of German assembly will appear in 2023.
However, it should be understood that the transition to plug-in cars will not be abrupt. The company emphasized that by 2026, every model presented in Europe will receive either an electric or hybrid (PHEV) version.
The above plans concern the passenger car segment, but Ford's commercial vehicles will also be affected by electrification: by 2024, every vehicle can be purchased with a fully electric or hybrid powertrain.

By the way, later the "blue oval" will also electrify other markets. By 2025, the manufacturer will spend a total of 22 billion dollars on developing new electric cars that will be sold worldwide.
Currently, Ford's model lineup includes two electric vehicles: the Mustang Mach-e crossover and the E-Transit van.
However, while the former is already being produced and sold, the latter will only begin shipping to customers at the end of 2021 – beginning of 2022.
