The details of the incident were published by local journalists. It is reported that two young travelers decided to go for a drive around the area. They had a dog named Chewie with them. At first everything went well, but soon the girls lost their bearings and drove onto a narrow mountain road designed for one-way traffic. After that, they decided to turn around, and one of them left the cabin to guide the driver on where to steer. A moment later, the SUV plunged into a ravine.

During the fall, the 23-year-old woman and the dog were thrown from the cabin. The American woman sustained serious injuries, but the four-legged passenger, surprisingly, remained safe and sound.

The published photos clearly show the aftermath of the accident. Almost nothing was left of the SUV: the body was severely deformed, the windows were shattered, all airbags deployed, and the engine was torn from the frame. Notably, the wrecked car was new — it was a Ford Bronco Sport crossover, production of which started only at the beginning of summer.

Law enforcement noted that the dirt road on Black Bear Pass (length — 12 km, the road starts at 3,358 meters above sea level and reaches 3,914 meters) is extremely dangerous and not intended for beginners or ordinary tourists. Only experienced drivers on specially prepared off-road vehicles can travel on it.
