“We decided to purchase the first batch of electric vehicles for the patrol police. Preliminary data indicate that this allows reducing fuel costs, saving on many expense items. We see that the transition of the police to electric cars can provide greater savings for the state and for the state budget as a whole,” emphasized Denys Monastyrskyi.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs website also published informational materials comparing an electric vehicle and a car with an internal combustion engine using the example of the Hyundai Kona Electric and the gasoline Mitsubishi Outlander (although the police use Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrids). By the way, electric Konas are used by the police in the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.

On the one hand, the Hyundai electric car is almost twice as expensive. On the other hand, for 400,000 km of mileage, you need to spend 1,223,424 hryvnias on fuel for the Mitsubishi Outlander, and only 204,800 hryvnias on charging the Hyundai Kona.
In addition, scheduled maintenance with oil changes for the Outlander will cost another 96,660 hryvnias. In total, the price of the car and the cost of operation for 400,000 km of mileage for the gasoline crossover will amount to 2,059,084 hryvnias, and for the electric one – 1,540,400 hryvnias. That is, the savings are significant.
